NAIIA update

May 26th, 2010

EagleView was a proud exhibitor at the 73rd Annual National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters (NAIIA) Annual Conference.  Many Independent Adjusters stopped by the booth with a majority already utilizing EagleView reports.  The feedback was that adjusters believe in the convenience and the increase in productivity when using EagleView reports.  With storm season in full swing, several adjusters wanted information on new features they are seeing from EagleView as the reports continue to lead the market for accuracy and timeliness.

EagleView raffled off five free reports along with two EagleView sweatshirts at the end of the tradeshow.  The proud winner was Robert McRorie of RJMW Claim Services who consistently is using EagleView for his claims.  Located out of North Carolina, they believe that EagleView is a very important tool for their business and will be critical to them this year with large storms predicted for their area.

Thank you to all who stopped to see us this year at NAIIA and made it a great show!

Kelly McRorie, Debbie McRorie, Robert McRorie and Ken Daidone of ProJust.

Pushing Off the Legwork

February 26th, 2010

Pushing Off The LegworkEagleView was recently featured in Claims Advisor Magazine showcasing how emerging technologies help save time, employee risk, and errors.

Here are some snippets from that article:

“Emerging technological advancements are improving performance in several claims sectors: damage assessment, speed of claims processing, reduction of labor hours, improving accuracy and bolstering customer relations. Of particular value to adjusters are aerial measuring technologies, remote communications devices, calculation programs, and documentation software that permits the clear display of complicated data for presentation to the claimant.

The adoption of remote aerial measurement services for preliminary estimates has reduced claim-adjusting time and work-related injuries. These services will send the adjuster a detailed property report that includes photos and measurements of the site. From anywhere in the world, claims professionals with Internet access can retrieve vital information and assess damage to respond immediately to claims.

New technologies allow you to leave the “heavy lifting” to someone else. Claims processing software can be used to process multiple claims more quickly and allows the adjuster time to focus on other business matters. Emerging technology should be used as a tool to eliminate the manual processes so the adjuster can process claims faster and with less legwork.”

EagleView is a proud sponsor of the Xactware User Conference

February 1st, 2010

Xactware User Conference

2010 Xactware User Conference
February 4-5, 2010
Salt Lake City, Utah

The first annual Xactware user conference is coming up, and we are very excited and proud to be a sponsor. This is a perfect opportunity for professionals to exchange ideas, learn about the latest technologies, and see what Xactware has planned for the road ahead.

Some Breakout Sessions from the Conference:

What’s New in Xactimate version 27
Xactimate version 27 is scheduled for release during first quarter of 2010. Xactimate version 27 is a major leap forward with significantly expanded capabilities, streamlined workflows, and easier-to-use features. You will explore new Xactimate version 27 features in this session and learn about the possibilities they provide to work faster and more intuitively.

Complex Roof Sketching with Xactimate version 27
Sketch in Xactimate version 27 accomplished what seem to be two opposing goals: it contains a wealth of new features and it’s easier to use. New, visually oriented Sketch tools make complex Sketching intuitive and easy. This session walks you through the new Roof Sketching capabilities, applies the new features to complex roofs, and discusses best practices for accurate and speedy roof sketching.

Integrated Third-Party Solutions
Many Xactware users rely on key services and products from companies outside of Xactware. Xactware works hard to identify and work with these companies in order to integrate services and to streamline your workflow. In this session you will not see a sales presentation from any of these providers but instead a discussion about how you can implement important aspects of your current workflow from inside of Xactware tools.

All images are not equal

August 25th, 2009

If picture is worth a 1000 words, the quality of an image is worth many more when applying remote measurement technology.   There are many factors that should be considered when evaluating remote measurement services.  A small difference in photo compression  and resolution can lead to inaccurate measurements and costly project overages.

Image resolution and compression are important factors in obtaining the accurate roof measurements.  Many providers of satellite and aerial images offer lower resolution, heavily compressed images to reduce the cost of storing and serving the images to the public.  These compromises degrade the quality of the image, resulting in poor quality measurements.

See examples images below comparing the same house comparing resolution and image compression:

Images Not Equal

Looking at the images, the low resolution images (bottom) appears blurry and some of the detail visible in the high resolution image (top) has been lost.  The heavily compressed version (lower right) also appears blurry and the artifacts produced by the compression further degrades the detail found in the lightly compressed image (bottom right).  When the effects of low resolution and compression are combined (bottom right), most of the important details of the roof, such as ridge and valley lines, have been lost. The loss of the feature detail reduces the accuracy of measurements made from the degraded photo.

EagleView selects the highest quality, highest resolution images available for each measurement.  These high resolution images provide state of the art pixel resolution (5-6 inches per pixel), compared to the typical (12-18 inches per pixel) resolution images found in most image libraries.  The quality and clarity of our aerial images help EagleView to provide the highest level imagery and high quality aerial measurement reports.
